Alexandra S. Audate (she/her)
Her career in human rights advocacy spans over a decade and consists of community education and training, legislative lobbying, policy writing, and coalition building.
Before she started her career in law, she worked as a social worker for almost a decade providing support and direct services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. She also worked as a community organizer and spent the last fifteen years traveling all over the United States advocating on issues related to LGBTQIA+rights, immigration, racial equity, police brutality, HIV/AIDS, disability rights, environmental racism and the school-to-prison pipeline. She is the author of the legal portion of the most recent edition of the Broward County Public Schools LGBTQ+ Critical Support Guide and The Dru Project GSA guide.
In her career, she has worked as the Deputy Director of a major nonprofit organization, coached several CEOs and executive directors through the incorporation of DEI principles in their organizations, managed several law firms including the QueerMigration Law Group, a law firm dedicated to representing and supporting queer and transgender immigrants.She has coached several boards and nonprofit executives on DEI practices and has supported them in recreating organizational structure, drafting strategic plans, and revamping their mission statements and policies.
As a consultant with KMG Consulting, she will bring her expertise in management and liability management to help our clients shift their organizational culture; manage risk and liability; and increase employee retention and satisfaction through goal setting, strategic planning, and capacity building.
Alexandra Stephanie Audate is a licensed attorney and a disability consultant in the state of Florida. She joins KMG Consulting with nearly two decades of experience in advocacy, lobbying, management and compliance.
She is a graduate of St Thomas University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree, a law degree and a Masters of Laws in Intercultural Human Rights. Her work started as a college student where she traveled to Washington, DC to advocate for undocumented youth. Her notable work includes advocacy in Tallahassee, FL and Washington, DC on behalf of LGBTQIA+ people, undocumented youths and survivors of domestic violence.
In 2018, she was chosen as the lead person for the Florida Repeal Stand Your Ground committee, whose main goal is to advocate for the repeal of the Florida Stand Your Ground law through the creation of strategic relationship with legislators who understand or are willing to learn about the racist, sexist and elitist implications of the statute.
Alexandra is a disability justice expert, and a well-respected lawyer with a decade of experience representing disabled immigrants, and queer and trans immigrants in various state and federal court proceedings.
