ENVIROMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT
Statement At KMG Consulting Firm, we feel a deep obligation and commitment to help address the root causes of climate change and reduce the environmental footprint of our own operations. It is our fundamental belief that the racist and ableist implications as well as the impending harm to future generations of climate change, climate gentrification, and climate migration makes environmental justice a key tenet of DEI work. Further, as settlers on Turtle Island (North America), it is our absolute and foremost duty to be responsible steward of the land and heed to our indigenous comrades’ directives to guard and protect the environment.
At the end of our existing lease agreement, our office will be relocating to LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building — demonstrating our efforts to drive energy efficiency and environmental design. Our office space and all of our at-home staff workspaces have recycling bins and they ensure that all waste is being deposed of through the county’s recycling program. Our staff works virtually 100% of the time and at the physical location, we have removed desk side bins and steered our people to use consolidated waste hubs to increase recycling and reduce landfill waste.
As part of our efforts, we have recently implemented annual training for staff on how to reduce carbon footprint and environmental impact not just at work, but in their daily lives.
Rules and Policies
Work From Home and Use of Public Transportation In complying with our own disability justice and environmental sustainability framework, our firm has been hybrid since its inception – providing opportunity for persons with disabilities and transportation restrictions to still be part of our network. All of our staff works from home, limiting our use of transportation to in-person meetings with clients.
When travel is required, staff is encouraged to use public transportation and responsible ridesharing. When traveling in groups, staff is expected to ride together. The use of private vehicles is strongly discouraged.
Printing and Use of Paper Unless absolutely necessary, staff is strongly discouraged from printing any of KMG consulting’s materials. When printing, each staff member is expected to utilize the Epson EcoTank printer they were provided at onboarding.
All presentation materials, sign in sheets, surveys and reports must be provided to clients via electronic transmission, unless client specifically requests printed materials.
Required training As part of our continuing education training, each staff member is required to complete one session on environmental sustainability and justice.
